A horrific situation unfolded when a city bus rammed into a daycare center and two young children lost their lives as a result of the tragedy.
The event took place Wednesday morning in Laval, Quebec, a Canadian city located about an hour from Montreal.
According Radio-Canada News, a bus associated with the city’s transit system crashed into the daycare center around 8:30 a.m. As a result, two children lost their lives. In addition, six children were injured and treated in nearby hospitals, although they are all in stable condition.
Witness believes crime was intentional, says driver was ‘in another world’
A witness named Hamdi Ben Chaabane lives near the crime scene and he estimates the bus was traveling at around 20 miles an hour when it crashed into the daycare.
He notably shared: “From what I saw, it was not an accident.”
The witness also talked about how the driver started acting like a jerk after the collision.
“He opened the door. He took off all his clothes. He was totally naked. We don’t know why he did this. We dove on top of him. We tried to subdue him.
Ben Chaabane went on to describe the driver as being “in another world”, noting that the whole experience “was a nightmare”.
“It was a nightmare. It’s horrible. He kept screaming. He didn’t say a word.
The driver had been employed by the city for 10 years prior to the daycare incident
Stéphane Boyer, the mayor of Laval, specified that the driver, identified as Pierre Ny St-Amand, had been employed by the city’s transport service for 10 years. She also noted that the investigation was continuing.
“There is a hypothesis that it was an intentional act but this will have to be confirmed by the investigation.”

The suspect has been charged with first degree murder
Currently, Pierre Ny St-Amand would be charged with two counts of first degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
